More than 80 cadets in our AFJROTC program from all 3 schools assisted with offloading approximately 1,200 donated Christmas trees from the USCG Cutter Mackinaw (the Christmas Ship) last week. The trees will be provided to families in need across the Chicagoland area this holiday season.

Our Special Olympics basketball team had their final home game last night. Thanks to the LWC Knightmares who came out to cheer them on! 🔴🔵🟠
The Knight and Griffin boys and girls basketball teams traveled to the Hoosier gym in Knightstown, IN for an out-of-town 'crosstown' classic. They had an outstanding experience in the historic gym used in the movie “Hoosiers.”

Join us in congratulating LWE senior Sarina Nayden on her selection to the 2025 AFJROTC Flight Academy! This highly competitive program selects strong candidates to attend an 8-week private pilot training program next summer. Sarina was selected from over 1,000 applicants internationally. The scholarship (valued at over $25,000) will pay for round-trip airfare, room and board, collegiate academics, and flight hours required to earn a Private Pilot's Certificate (PPC) through an in-residence collegiate program.

SkillsUSA at Central and East have been exploring different career paths this semester. Students toured a variety of local businesses where they experienced a behind-the-scenes look at each career, sometimes exposing them to opportunities they wouldn't have otherwise known about! Lincoln-Way East High School recently held its inaugural STEM Career Exploration Dinner, an inspiring evening dedicated to connecting students with professionals in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Nearly 40 students participated in this exciting event, which featured 11 volunteers from a variety of STEM careers.

At the LWMB Community BandCares Showcase on November 2nd, an admission fee of one canned food or non-perishable item was collected from each attendee. Volunteers from the New Lenox Township Food Pantry were there to collect donations, and the items nearly filled an entire van!
The LWMB is so thankful for all of the support that this school community has shown them this season, and are proud to have made such an impactful donation to the New Lenox Township Food Pantry. Don't forget to tune into the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day to see the LWMB in action!
Last week, Lincoln-Way Central joined forces with the New Lenox Safe Communities Coalition to conduct more than 40 vehicle inspection for senior residents. Students in auto classes examined vehicles to make sure they are in good working condition for the winter., and instructors made recommendations for additional work that may need to be done to keep the vehicles running smoothly.
East and Central hosted Culture Days last week, showcasing traditions and cultures from around the world. EL students prepared a presentation on their culture, and attendees enjoyed interactive displays, games, performances, and a whole lot of delicious food!
