Students in Ms. Klahn’s physics classes at Lincoln-Way West performed an experiment testing the affects of gravity today in class. Students dropped different objects from the top of the stairs and calculated the acceleration of gravity!
In Support of World Suicide Prevention Day, on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, with the support of Lincoln-Way School District #210, the Village of New Lenox and its Safe Community Coalition are hosting “A Pathway to Hope and Healing.” In support of World Suicide Prevention Day, residents are encouraged to attend this event to learn more about suicide prevention. The event will be held at Lincoln-Way West High School. Attendees are encouraged to enter the campus off of Gougar Road and use the auditorium entrance. This event is for parents, community members, and students. Students will earn community service hours for attendance.

The Theory of Relativity is playing at Lincoln-Way East High School on Saturday, September 24 at 7:00pm and October 1 at 7:00pm. Performances are open to the public at Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, IL and Admission is $10/adults and $5/students. In anticipation of next week's "Salute the Troops" game, the Lincoln-Way East Football program will have commemorative long sleeve shirts on sale at this Fridays game vs Andrew & throughout next week. The shirt will cost $20 with a donation made to the Wounded Warrior Project. 🇺🇸

LWE's Spanish Honors Society ran their weekly tutoring session this morning. The World Language Department is so excited to see so many students come in for extra help/practice, especially at the start of the school year. The department recently inducted about 50 new members, so this was a great chance for them to get started as tutors for the first time.
If you see a member of the Lincoln-Way Marching Band, be sure to congratulate them on a fantastic and successful first weekend of competition! The band traveled to O’Fallon, Illinois this past weekend to compete in the Metro East Marching Classic. They earned first place in Class 4A, including captions for Best Music, General Effect, Auxiliary, Percussion, and were named overall Grand Champion of the event. The students enjoyed spending time with the O’Fallon Marching Panthers, as well as a special performance by the University of Missouri drum line. The band will continue working hard this week as they prepare for their next competition at the Iowa Bands of America Regional Championships in two weeks. Congratulations LWMB!
Today was Lincoln-Way West’s annual Activity Fair. Students had the opportunity to find out more information about the activities offered at Lincoln-Way West and how to get involved.
This week, LW Media Center Supervisors worked with Freshman Seminar and Reading classes to introduce them to the library and begin working on Computer Literacy and Media Literacy skills. Freshmen practiced accessing the Media Center websites and online resources, checking and writing emails through their Outlook accounts, and utilizing the calendar feature in Teams as an assignment notebook.
The LWE Medical Anatomy Fall class returned to the Franciscan Hospital in Olympia Fields after a CoVid pause. The students will be shadowing professionals in all areas of the hospital to learn about different careers.
In conjunction with National Suicide Prevention week, staff members from Rogers Behavioral Health presented to our Lincoln-Way West students in an effort to spread awareness and provide information on support services.
National Suicide Prevention week is September 4th-10th. To help spread awareness during the week, we are proud to announce that Taylor Jacobs, LPC Clinical Therapist from Linden Oaks Behavioral Health, presented to our LWE students today.
