LWE Library hosted its first coffee house before school today. The library aides served up some tasty coffee to our fellow Griffins while listening to Mr. Teare and his studio guitar class play some cool jazz. We hope to see these musicians come back and play for us again. They were fantastic!

The Lincoln-Way East High School Welding program can take their welding classes outdoors thanks to Lowes Home Improvement for providing the funds to accomplish this amazing opportunity. The project, built by current and former welding students with assistance from the Pipefitters Local 597, created an outstanding opportunity for our current and future welding students. -- A one of a kind outdoor welding lab, complete with engine driven welders. The National SkillsUSA organization made this possible as they are the lynch pin between industry leaders and technical education. SkillsUSA's Framework Model is Technical Skills, Workplace Skills, and Personal Skills. All three of these combined equates to helping our students become career-ready. Lights, Camera, Homecoming! 🎥 The Warriors kicked off their Hollywood themed Homecoming week with 1200 students and staff members participating at last night’s Homecoming Olympics!

Congratulations to our Air Force Junior ROTC PT Teams for their performance at Saturday's Bloom Trail Physical Fitness Meet. Cadets from all three Lincoln-Way schools competed in the competition, which included a total of 24 teams from 16 JROTC schools across the Chicagoland area. Cadets from all three Lincoln-Way schools competed and earned 1st Place in both Volleyball and Dodgeball, 3rd Place in the baton Relay, and took 3rd Place Overall in the competition. Great job team for our best PT performance ever!

Mrs. Johnson's German classes celebrated Oktoberfest- a traditional German folk festival. They played 'pin the lederhosen,' learned about German food and culture, and danced to German music. The students had a blast!

Students in Ms. Klahn’s physics classes at Lincoln-Way West performed an experiment testing the affects of gravity today in class. Students dropped different objects from the top of the stairs and calculated the acceleration of gravity!

In Support of World Suicide Prevention Day, on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, with the support of Lincoln-Way School District #210, the Village of New Lenox and its Safe Community Coalition are hosting “A Pathway to Hope and Healing.” In support of World Suicide Prevention Day, residents are encouraged to attend this event to learn more about suicide prevention. The event will be held at Lincoln-Way West High School. Attendees are encouraged to enter the campus off of Gougar Road and use the auditorium entrance. This event is for parents, community members, and students. Students will earn community service hours for attendance.

The Theory of Relativity is playing at Lincoln-Way East High School on Saturday, September 24 at 7:00pm and October 1 at 7:00pm. In anticipation of next week's "Salute the Troops" game, the Lincoln-Way East Football program will have commemorative long sleeve shirts on sale at this Fridays game vs Andrew & throughout next week. The shirt will cost $20 with a donation made to the Wounded Warrior Project. 🇺🇸

A successful first day of popcorn sales at Lincoln-Way West! 🍿

LWE's Spanish Honors Society ran their weekly tutoring session this morning. The World Language Department is so excited to see so many students come in for extra help/practice, especially at the start of the school year. The department recently inducted about 50 new members, so this was a great chance for them to get started as tutors for the first time.

If you see a member of the Lincoln-Way Marching Band, be sure to congratulate them on a fantastic and successful first weekend of competition! The band traveled to O’Fallon, Illinois this past weekend to compete in the Metro East Marching Classic. They earned first place in Class 4A, including captions for Best Music, General Effect, Auxiliary, Percussion, and were named overall Grand Champion of the event. The students enjoyed spending time with the O’Fallon Marching Panthers, as well as a special performance by the University of Missouri drum line. The band will continue working hard this week as they prepare for their next competition at the Iowa Bands of America Regional Championships in two weeks. Congratulations LWMB!

Today was Lincoln-Way West’s annual Activity Fair. Students had the opportunity to find out more information about the activities offered at Lincoln-Way West and how to get involved.

This week, LW Media Center Supervisors worked with Freshman Seminar and Reading classes to introduce them to the library and begin working on Computer Literacy and Media Literacy skills. Freshmen practiced accessing the Media Center websites and online resources, checking and writing emails through their Outlook accounts, and utilizing the calendar feature in Teams as an assignment notebook.
