LWE Welcomes Mr. Griggs

Mr. Toriano Griggs has more than 20 years of experience in education. He was previously the Associate Principal at Harold L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn, Assistant Principal at Lyons Township High School, and Supervisory Dean of Students at Glenbard West High School. He began his career in education as a special education teacher.

“We look forward to the opportunity of beginning the transition for Mr. Griggs to be the principal of Lincoln-Way East,” said Dr. R. Scott Tingley. “Throughout the interview process, Mr. Griggs demonstrated a calm and thoughtful demeanor while showcasing the ability to connect with students, staff, and the community. His diverse experiences in education will bring a unique perspective to Lincoln-Way East High School and Lincoln-Way District 210.”

“It is very humbling and at the same time exciting to be a part of such a great institution,” said Mr. Griggs.

Mr. Griggs has a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Quincy University and a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Administration from Benedictine University. 

Mr. Griggs replaces Dr. Sharon Michalak, who retired in June 2021.
